Charity Commission

The principal legislation regulating charities in England and Wales is the Charities Act 2006, which sets out the requirements for all bodies that wish to register and fundraise as charities.

Compliance with the act is monitored by the Charity Commission. The Charity Commission registers and regulates charities in England and Wales to make sure all charities meet all their legal requirements and to work with charity trustees to put things right if they go wrong.

An essential requirement of all charities is that they operate for the public benefit and independently of government or commercial interests.

The Trust's Registered Charity number is 1137167.
