Equality and Diversity
Our students and staff come from a wide range of backgrounds and we know that this rich diversity enhances life within the Trust, our Colleges and residential provision where we all benefit from the interaction and friendships we enjoy with people whose experiences and upbringing are different from our own.
We actively promote equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination on the grounds of age, cultural background, class, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion and belief or sexual orientation, transgender status, marital status or civil partnership and pregnancy and maternity and all our staff have received training in the new equality and diversity legislation and best practice.
We monitor equality and impact measures to ensure we are clear about where we can target improvements in action planning at all levels within the organisation.
We were awarded the “two ticks” Positive About the Disabled in recognition of our approach to recruitment and we recognise the need to take positive action to increase the application and success rates for underrepresented groups.
The Trust has an equal opportunities policy and produces equality schemes in line with the specific duties of the equalities legislation and these are outlined below.
