Music – Kitty Macfarlane – Ruskin Mill College
Kitty Macfarlane is one of the brightest new voices in British folk music. Her remarkable debut album, Namer of Clouds, came out in Autumn of 2018 to immediate acclaim. It's easy to see why: with a crystalline voice and an unmatched sense of time and place in her lyrics, Namer of Clouds is evocative, addictive listening. From the starling murmurations on the Somerset Levels to the lowly eel's epic translation migration, and the small part we ourselves play in a much bigger picture, her songs are bound by the underlying theme of mankind's relationship with the wild.
"Her remarkable accomplished debut album beguiles with its poetry and tenderness, and her eye for detail, vivid imagination and bright vocals make it a captivating listen. She is a talent to watch". The Guardian
